AWESOME!!! (But buy more darts!)Dec 27, 2007
By Andrew J. Riemer
"Andrew James Riemer"
My eight-year old received one of these for Christmas, and he just loves it. It's neither too heavy nor too bulky. He uses the stock against his shoulder, but when his elder brother and I hold it, it rests against our upper arms (which I find comfortable).
THREE BEST FEATURES ------------------- There are three features that make this an awesome gun. (1) REPEATER - the barrel chamber that holds eight darts is fantastic. My son can fire off all eight shots in under 10 seconds. (2) LIGHT - the light adds another dimension to the fun. Viewed from the side, it looks like a muzzle flash. The light helps charge up the glow darts, which I will discuss later. (3) STORAGE FOR EXTRA DARTS - on the stock, there are brackets that will hold eight additional darts (which must be purchased separately), so you have a ready reload without having to pick up the fired darts.
ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE ----------------------- (1) THE INCLUDED DARTS (w/LABELS) - while the glow darts are cool, they only glow because of the glow-in-the-dark label that you must apply to them. The labels must be applied as directed in order to fit the darts, but even when doing so I found that the adhesive was a bit weak on the edge that overlaps the start of the label. The darts would be 1000% better if they could work the glow material into the foam of the darts. You can use other darts in this gun, but the glow ones are necessary if you want to play in the dark. Once the labels start to wear and loosen or tear, you'll need want to use some transparent tape to keep them flat and smooth.
TIPS and OTHER THINGS --------------------- (1) LOADING - be sure to push the darts all the way into the chambers. The suction cups should be flush with the edge of the barrel. (2) SPOTS for STRAPS - there are two spots that can be used to attach a strap (though none is included). One is at the top rear of the stock, and the other is on the bottom of the front end of the stock. Conceivably, if in an all-out Nerf war, you may want to sling this puppy over your shoulder while you run around with other Nerf guns. (3) DISTANCE - most of the time, the gun shoots up to about 20 feet. (4) BUY MORE DARTS - I *cannot* understate this one. Buy more darts. It is too easy to lose one or two darts in the first few days (e.g., shoot one under the upright piano that is too heavy to move). Have more darts to keep the fun going. (5) BUY ONE FOR YOURSELF, TOO! - I plan to do this soon. My son has plenty of fun on his own, but I'm really looking forward to having a shootout with him.
[UPDATE - We did buy more Nerf guns, though not all the same model, so the entire family could have a Nerf war. We picked a day when the weather warranted indoor activities, and we turned our basement into a war zone. It was a blast sneaking around, shooting from behind the couch, and trying to retreive nearby ammo without getting shot! Definately a fun way to burn an hour or two on a rainy day. Definately buy extra darts, and make sure everyone starts with at least 4 extra ones--after that, they can pick up and shoot back anything that comes their way.]

good job nerf!!Nov 11, 2005
I got this toy for raking the leaves and it is great! The darts travel far (but not 30 feet like it says on the box). The darts are very sticky on the front, and the gun is lightweight. If you are looking for an excellent nerf gun, then look no more! It comes with 8 darts, and has 4 dart holders on either side. The barrel lights up with just 1 short flash each time you pull the trigger. overall, I love this gun and I am sure you will too! Great as a gift to anyone!

INCREDIBLE!!!Nov 06, 2005
I did a bunch of work to get this and it rocks! Eight darts is great, and it shoots really well. The only downside is that the darts are hard to find when you lose them and that you have to put these glow stickers on them and they lower the range. Instead, just let the sution cups glow. I figured out by the ridges on top that you can fit it on the Unity Power system. This is definitly my best gun.

Awesome toys for all levelsOct 22, 2005
When I got it out of the box, it was great! I quickly learned that the darts it came with didn't shoot that far. So I bought a package of 10 sonic micro-darts. The aerodynamics are better so they shoot farther. Don't out them in all the way, let 2 centimeters stick out. When I shot one flat, it goes a little past 20 feet. When angled though, I got a lot to go past 40 feet! Accuracy is still great! The only downsides are the reload time, and the little orange thing on the barrel, that only allows you to shoot 3 sonic micro darts at a time. Oh yeah, there are 4 ammo holders on either side of thee gun! Overall a great gun for any age!!

Nerf has definetly outdone themselves againOct 08, 2005
This is a great Nerf gun. I got it about 1 week after buying the Nite finder IX-3. It is pretty much the assault rifle of all of the nerf guns. So far it is the only N-strike blaster that holds eight shots. It is the perfect I-am-about-to-jump-in-front-of-seven-guys-all-loaded-with-Mavericks. But for stealth I would rather perfer the Scout (which comes with the N-strike). The Firefly REV-8 takes you with the nite Finder to the ultimate gaming arena: THE NIGHT!!!!! It is awesome! The only thing that I didn't like was that it didn't come with a back strap. I recomend this product with a 16.5 out of 10
