Pinzon's Fleur Jacquard pillow sham is a silky soft and elegant accessory to the collection. Expertly sewn in Portugal from 100-percent Egyptian cotton single-ply yarns in a sateen weave, the sham boasts a sophisticated floral jacquard pattern. It accessorizes marvelously with other striped and floral pieces from the Fleur Jacquard collection. Offered in two colors and sizes, the King sham measures 20 by 36 inches, plus a 3-inch border all around. Super easy to care for, the sham is safe to clean at home in the washer and dryer. It has a positive/negative reverse and a slit opening on one end for pillow insertion. The Fabric Egyptian Cotton: Egyptian cotton is used to make some of the highest quality linens in the world, including sumptuously soft bath and bed linens. Egyptian cotton is grown to produce a longer staple, or fiber, than generic cotton, and the longer and finer a cotton staple is, the better able it is to be spun into finer count yarns, which in turn can be knitted or woven into soft, fine, and luxurious fabrics. The staple length in Egyptian cotton averages 1-1/8 to 1-1/2 inches, but can reach over 2-1/4 inches, which is twice the size of a generic cotton fiber. Products which highlight construction of Egyptian cotton are usually referring to the extra-long-staple cotton produced largely in the Nile River Valley. The humidity and rich soil around the Nile delta produce especially long cotton fibers, which are fine and vary from a light cream to dark tan color. Egyptian cotton is strong, durable and, if cared for properly, will be long lasting. Sateen: Sateen fabric has a supremely soft, satin-like finish resulting from a four-over-one thread weave. Standard weaves, like percale, use a one-over, one-under stitch. The four-over weave puts more threads nearer the surface, resulting in a softer, warmer surface. Sateen fabrics are most often made of mercerized cotton, but can be made of other fabrics, including cotton blends, polyester, and rayon. Mercerized threads give sateen fabrics a higher luster. Mercerization, named for process-creator John Mercer, involves treating threads with a cold concentrated sodium hydroxide solution. Mercerization also increases strength, dyeability, and resistance to mildew, as well as reduces lint. Sateens can be produced in light and heavy weights, and are ideal for bedding. |

Nice Material, But Very DroopyJan 14, 2010
By O. Brown
"Ms. O. Khannah-Brown"
** The material of this sham is very nice, but something in the way the sham is constructed does not work at all. The sham droops around the pillow so that it looks like an ill-fitting pillow case. Unfortunately, I bought this for the centerpiece of our bed, a large Euro pillow. It now looks like a large lump, or like a laundry bag kind of tossed on the bed, so disappointing. The edges of the sham do not stand up or out, but collapse instead. As another reviewer has mentioned, it does fit very loosely.
I will have to find some other use for it; the only thing I can think of is as a regular pillow case. Even then, it will fall off.
Not recommended, unless you have an unusual use for an unconventional sham. **

Beautiful but too largeJun 03, 2009
By Raphael A. Sanchez The pattern on these shams are beautiful, but they fit a Euro pillow (26 inches by 26 inches) very loosely and did not look right once over the pillow. I returned these for this reason.

looks exactly like the picture - washes wellJun 20, 2010

I bought this to go with my bedroom that was painted a dark taupe. It is a great color and matches well. It looks exactly like the picture. I've washed it many times in the washing machine and then dried it and it continues to look great. It holds up well.

Nice pillow cases; match the set wellSep 19, 2010

"It's a dry heat!"
I did not find these too large for standard sized pillows like some of the other reviewers said - they fill out my regular pillows nicely. They're comfortable enough to use as sleeping pillowcases and not just show pillowcases. There is an envelope enclosure at the end to fold so you cannot see the pillow inside.

It is, indeed, a sham.Jun 03, 2008
By D. Millar It is as advertised-- a nicely decorated, comfortable sham (pillowcase, that is). The material is soft enough that you could sleep on it comfortably. It matches with many colors, and basically looks like the pictures.
So why only three stars? Well-- I guess this is partly my fault for not reading closely, but I was very disappointed to discover that my package only included ONE "sham". Somehow I was under the impression that you buy pillowcases by the pair. I would get another one to complete the set but now the price has gone up. Oh well.
